SAIT Polytechnic will work with a small inner-city homebuilder to design and evaluate the full costs of
including solar photovoltaic systems in four four-plex buildings on the same residential road in Calgary. A
central approach where the system serves the entire building will be evaluated in comparison to an independent
approach whereby each of the four homes in the quadplex have their own system. Full costs including
equipment, regulatory compliance, metering and labour, will be assessed for the different systems. The power
generated by the systems and the impact on both buyers and homeowners will be assessed in this 18 month
applied research project.
