Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) are currently considered the most viable alternative propulsion system in the automotive industry. Air conditioning (A/C) systems and thermal management of lithium-ion battery packs require efficient and sustainable cooling/heating strategies, which for the most part, have not been developed. The applicant has established a new research program, in close collaboration with an industrial partner (Future Vehicle Technology), under the Automotive Partnership Canada program on the development of next-generation A/C and thermal management systems for HEVs.
