This project addresses technology gaps in monitoring the condition of off-road haul truck tires. Tire failure is a major cause of lost productivity in mining operations, and a potentially serious safety hazard for operating personnel. The proposed work will consider non-contact methods for collecting geometric data from objects that may undergo elastic deformation, can be occluded by other objects, and may be affected by environmental factors. This project will develop and characterize a proof-of-concept system for detecting anomalies in tires in field conditions.
