This application is to purchase a radioisotope analyzer. This apparatus allows researchers to detect and measure radioactive molecules used as markers for analysing hormone concentrations, RNA and DNA levels and molecular (protein-protein and DNA-protein) interactions. This equipment will be used at the Veterinary School of the University of Montreal to support the research of four internationally recognized scientists investigating infertility in farm animals, which is of major economic importance for the Canadian economy. Each of these scientists trains veterinary students as well as masters and doctoral students. This apparatus is a basic piece of equipment that will allow the successful training of students, and lead to significant advances in the reproductive health and efficiency of domestic animals.
