Residential greywater recovery systems represent an effective means to conserve water usage. The industry partner has developed a revolutionary residential greywater recycling system currently in the proto-type stage. This system aims to solve market-wide barriers typically found with competing systems such as poor reliability, high maintenance requirements and heavy, necessary, user interaction. Minimal protocol exists for field-testing procedures for quantitative performance of greywater recycling systems. The company requires a reliable standard method for field-testing to provide quantitative data on field-performance, including water savings, system operation and user satisfaction. The proposed research will develop a rigorous, repeatable field-testing method to be used to evaluate the prototype system to be installed in approximately 30 homes across southern Ontario.
