The limitations of process technology and the performance/power requirements of modern applications will continue to drive the adoption of multi-core embedded systems in the foreseeable future. However, application complexity, design cost and short time-to-market pose significant challenges to the design of multi-core embedded systems. Transaction Level Models (TLMs) are emerging as the next higher level of design abstraction above conventional Cycle-Accurate Models for system validation. However, in order to use TLMs for design, novel TLM-based design methods must be developed.
