英文摘要
The proposed project aims to investigate the impact of grid disturbances on electric vehicle (EV) battery degradation and propose an economic and efficient solution to enhance EV battery life cycle for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) applications. The electrification of transportation has many economic and environmental benefits for Canada. Particularly, EVs can be used to provide emergency power to homes during a power outage and have the potential to assist in balancing electrical grids, which are known as V2G applications. In support of V2G power flows through bi-directional chargers, batteries in EVs could be subject to high transient currents from grid disturbances such as grid fault and capacitor switching. While it is often desirable to have the local grid more "rigid" thanks to carefully controlled low impedance sources, the long term effects of sudden spike loads on the lifetime of vehicle batteries is not yet clear through large volume experience.
