Application of statistical design of experiments to the fabrication and characterization of CdS, ZnS quantum dots

This research project aims to help the development of next generation materials for solar cells based on quantum dots. The project involves SolarGrid Energy Inc. based in Toronto, as the supporting research organization where the materials will be developed, and McMaster University where the structural characterization with electron microscopy will be done. The goal is to understand the processing-structure-properties relationships through the use of statistical design of experiments and detailed structural characterization whereby a full understanding of the influence of processing parameters can be related to the changes in structural and optical properties of materials. In this work, the focus will be on CdS and ZnS based quantum dots to optimize the understanding of the processing and tune their properties.
