Industrial cleaning is a $78 billion annual business that is entirely performed by human operators. Robotics stands to revolutionize this industry, by providing autonomous cleaning solutions that will dramatically cut costs and improve reliability. To this end, Avidbots and the Waterloo Autonomous Vehicles Laboratory are joining forces to develop a low-cost, vision-based localization method that allows autonomous operation of cleaning robots over large indoor environments.
