Vitrification is a technique for the cryopreservation of oocytes and embryos in IVF (in vitro fertilization) clinics. Embryo vitrification involves multiple steps of stringently timed pick-and-place operation for processing an oocyte/embryo in a number of vitrification medium. The processed embryo is then transferred to a vitrification straw before plunged into liquid nitrogen.
