英文摘要
InteraXon Inc., a Toronto-based innovator of brain-sensing technology, currently makes the Muse headband, a portable device that measures EEG data. Muse works with a proprietary mobile application for both Android and iOS that helps users achieve a meditative state by monitoring the EEG signal and providing users with real-time feedback about their current brain state. Originally designed as a consumer device, InteraXon now seeks to validate Muse for research applications. This project, based at the University of Victoria's Neuroeconomics Laboratory, will evaluate the effectiveness of the Muse headset against clinical grade EEG systems to analyze its strengths and weaknesses, then build greater portable tools to analyze and improve the Muse's functionality. Under the supervision of Dr. Olav Krigolson, an expert in the collection and analysis of EEG data, the team will develop new solutions to address key data formatting limitations, implement timing event analysis capabilities to capture neuro-responses to specific events, and develop new software tools that open the platform for researchers. InteraXon's partnership with the lab will explore new techniques to improve the extrapolation of EEG signals into addressing event-driven characteristics vs. frequency analysis to immediately address over 100 active researchers currently engaged in explorations with the Muse. It will also establish pathways toward intensified research projects that carry the company into new industry verticals such as medical and healthcare-related fields.
