英文摘要
High performance strong, light and conductive materials comprised of high concentrations of low dimensional materials such as nanotubes are of current interest for performant composites in aerospace and defense, aviation, automotive, energy and consumer market applications. Company's one-step production process is believed to be the least capital intensive, least labor intensive and most environmentally benign of any metal, carbon, or composite structure. Nevertheless, incorporating low dimensional materials with metals at elevated processing temperatures remains challenging due to their high reactivity especially for low melting metals, like Al which is most researched among metal matrix composites due to its light weight and high strength characteristics. Here we propose to apply a low power ultrasonic phosphate bonding method to combine carbon
and boron nanotubes to Al and to test the resulting composites.
