G protein-coupled receptor interactome: Discovery and study of novel neighboring and interacting partners

This research program focusses on studying the interactome of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). The aim is to identify and investigate the roles of novel neighboring and interacting partners involved in the trafficking and the downstream signaling cascades of prototypical GPCRs. To this end, we are proposing to use the Escherichia coli biotin protein ligase as a proximity-dependent identification strategy. This innovative, large scale screening approach should lead to the discovery of novel partners and signaling cascades of GPCRs in their “native” cellular environment.
