The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) is requesting NSERC Applied Research and Development grant funding for a project to advance the development of a security and inspection program called Reach, a service developed by Osprey Informatics Ltd. for the monitoring of industrial sites and facilities. Reach is a cloud-based security and inspection solution capable of controlling and acquiring pictures and video from thousands of devices simultaneously. Reach collects this data from thermal cameras, Internet-based security cameras, and Modbus-based sensors which allow communication among many devices connected to the same network. The goal of this project is to investigate the incorporation of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology to improve the Reach product by adding aerial mobility features to their data-acquisition capabilities.
