Electro-spark deposition (ESD) is a pulsed micro-welding process typically used to make small-scale precision repairs to damaged or mis-fabricated high-value components. Advanced sectors, such as aerospace and medical devices, however, typically require higher quality coatings than those produced by traditional ESD technology. This project will investigate the production of highly uniform coatings through the study and optimization of ESD parameters. It will place Huys Industries Limited in a position to expand its' activities in sectors with more stringent coating requirements (e.g. medical and aerospace) and expand its employment base in Canada to address these markets.
