英文摘要
Currently, Vivosonic (the Partner) manufactures the IntegrityTM V500, a system unique to the market for itsability to acquire auditory brainstem responses in less-than-ideal clinical environments. This system is currentlyused to identify non-organic hearing loss using an objective method that allows accurate measurements even indifficult-to-test patients. The proposed project aims to further extend the capability of this product by creating a novel protocol toobjectively identify tinnitus, using a gap-in-noise paradigm. Currently the gap-in-noise method for tinnitusdetection has been validated on mice (Lowe et al. 2015); its application to humans has been precluded due tolack of existing technology. Current methods to diagnose tinnitus are subjective and behavioral-based; thislimits quantitative evaluation and prevents assessment in difficult-to-test populations, such as paediatricpatients and patients with developmental disabilities.
