英文摘要
Lumenari BioSciences Ltd. and the College of New Caledonia are collaborating on an applied research projectto research the effects of controlling light spectrum on plant responses in horticulture applications. Lumenariproduces high-efficiency LED lighting systems for horticulture applications that feature a number of importantinnovations, including light spectrum control and internet of things (IoT) technology. Lumenari seeks toconduct research into how controlling spectrum ratios in their lighting systems may help growers optimizeplant growth or other characteristics. Data from this project will help the company research, develop andcommercialize new LED lighting systems that are customizable to individual plant crops, and will also helptheir clients maximize plant growth using LED lighting systems. This project will involve faculty and students from the College's Horticulture Technician and Agribusinessprogram in Quesnel. This project will be integrated into the course curriculum and will help teach studentsabout emerging technologies that allow for year-round food production in cold climates, as well as datacollection and applied research. Economic diversification and hi-tech agriculture are emerging priorities innorthern BC, and this project will help develop skillsets in our students to contribute to these priorities.
