英文摘要
We desperately require a replacement electrospray ionization mass spectrometer (MS) for our workhorse LC-MS system. LC-MS analysis is typically performed daily by each HQP in our research groups to detect and characterize complex molecules from biochemical reactions, bacterial cultivations, or in vivo metabolite trapping. Our previous MS detector experienced catastrophic failure (electrical fire), negatively impacting the training and progress through their degrees for all HQPs. No comparable instrument has sufficient availability or affordability to replace this essential research tool. Without this infrastructure, the Boddy lab will not be able to maintain its internationally recognized, cutting edge research program on harnessing natural product biosynthesis to access complex molecules nor will the Shuhendler lab be able to implement its revolutionary program for in vivo trapping of reactive drug metabolites.
