With the recent advances in advanced manufacturing, there is an emerging opportunity to develop in vitro models of neurovascular units (NVU) using 3D bioprinting technology. As the 3D bioprinting technique allows for the accurate deposition of different cell types according to computer-based design, it is expected that the models developed by bioprinting technology better mimic the native in vivo tissue. In the proposed project, with the goal of developing an NVU model in the long term, a feasibility study will be performed to use 3D bioprinting for culturing neuron cells in biomaterials.
