We are requesting the purchase of an Automated Peptide Synthesizer (APS) capable of preparing up to 9 20-mer peptides over 12 h. A system that is a unique tool for accelerating the discovery of novel materials for tissue engineering & fundamental free radical studies as well as enable the development of peptide-based imaging probes, new radiochemical methods and discovery of the enzymatic cleavage of novel DPP4 peptide sequences and their role in intestinal adaptation to nutrients. As a result, this APS equipment will enhance the impact and expedite the development of diverse areas of natural science and engineering research in Canada including, but not limited to, nanotechnology, biomimetic materials, fundamental physiology, radiochemical labeling of biopolymers and molecular imaging.
