英文摘要
This project will explore circuits and systems to reduce the cost and power consumption of wireless communication equipment, both in our communication infrastructure and in mobile devices. Low-cost flexible RF transceivers achieving low average power consumption with few, if any, external components are sought. Specifically, wireless receiver electronics that are resilient to unwanted interfering signals, and transmitters with high spectral purity will be researched. New technologies will be prototyped in advanced nanoscale CMOS technologies, providing unique training for graduate students, and ensuring the work's high commercial relevance and impact. The research will be undertaken by 2 faculty co-investigators, 5 graduate students, and researchers from the partner company, Analog Devices Canada Inc. (ADI). ADI is a world leader in research and development in this area, and for several years the collaborating Toronto office has been focused specifically on analog circuits and data converters for wireless infrastructure, making them a perfect partner for the project. The project offers outstanding training opportunities and enhanced competitiveness for the Canadian partner company, all in pursuit of lower cost and power consumption for the wireless communication equipment upon which Canada increasingly relies.****
