Concrete, the most used material in the construction industry, is characterized by its high compressive strength and low tensile and flexural strength. Through several research studies, it was shown that adding nano-material into the cement-based matrix could improve its mechanical properties, especially its tensile strength. One potential nano-material to use in concrete is graphene nano-sheets.****Zenyatta Ventures Ltd. would like to assess the effect of adding graphene material from its large deposit in Ontario on concrete performance. Therefore, the objective of this study is to determine the effectiveness of adding graphene, graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide for concrete enhancement. The variables that will be studied include the percentage of the added graphene material to the concrete mix. The concrete performance will be assessed based on its strength. ****To ensure a smooth transfer of the results of this project, Zenyatta technical staff will be involved and able to provide their input at every stage of this project. ****The research findings will generate economic and environmental benefits for Canada. It will reduce the amount of concrete used by the construction industry, thus reducing CO2 emissions generated during the manufacturing of cement. In addition, given that Canada holds the world's third largest supply of graphene, this project could lead to further growth of the graphite mining industry in Canada, which will contribute to the Canadian economy and lead to job creation.**
