Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) is arguably the most powerful tool for the study of chemical structure, dynamics and interactions with a range of applications spanning chemistry, biochemistry, material science and medicine. However, conventional NMR systems are limited to the analysis of one sample at a time. In this collaborative project, Bruker Ltd. - the market leader in NMR spectroscopy instruments and the Biologically Inspired Sensors and Actuators Laboratory at the Lassonde School of Engineering, York University propose a novel electronically active NMR probe technology. This core- integrated Microfluidic Complementary Metal Oxide semiconductor (imCMOS) technology is the key first step towards a high throughput screening platform for various life science applications including toxicity studies of small organisms, cells and tissues. The success of this project, not only enhance our knowledge in this technology but also improve the quality of scientific research in Canadian Universities.
