Integrated circuits and antennas are crucial components in all electronic systems around us, from smartphones to Google's data centres. New technologies, such as 3D integration and metamaterials, promise major breakthroughs in performance, but also raise complexity to an unprecedented level. In particular, the electromagnetic design of new integrated circuits and antennas will be a formidable task, since existing simulators can hardly cope with their soaring complexity. The proposed research will develop a new electromagnetic simulator with superior scalability. In collaboration with leading companies and scientists, the simulator will be applied to the design of next-generation integrated circuits and metamaterials.
