The objective of this Chair is to establish new materials with tunable properties exploiting nanoscale and quantum processes. Uncovering and Harnessing these processes in semiconductors is a powerful paradigm to develop superior functionalities. The proposed research strives for the highest impact in both fundamental and technological implications of the next-generation of semiconductor devices. This renewal will strengthen the foundation of the work established during the first term and lay the groundwork for new collaborative, multi-disciplinary research. The anticipated results will have immediate impacts on semiconductor science and technology and pave the way to new applications in information technology and energy.
