项目摘要

AUG Signals Ltd has developed in collaboration with the Southern Ontario Centre for Atmospheric Research (SOCAAR) at the University of Toronto AirSENCE, an innovative low-cost, compact, portable device for reliable real-time air quality monitoring. AirSENCE has already been successfully tested and deployed in pilot projects in urban areas. In this 12-month project, we propose to extend AirSENCE's line of product with AirSENCETM- FIM (Fence-line and Industrial Monitoring) to address the market of industrial air quality monitoring. This upgraded version of AirSENCE will integrate sensors to measure additional pollutants that are relevant to many industries and the surrounding communities. Moreover, we will improve the system sensitivity, longevity and seasonal accuracy, improvements that will benefit all versions of AirSENCE. We will build demonstration units to be deployed for pilot testing at sites of interest to potential clients. Specifically, we will evaluate new sensors and identify configurations that are optimal for monitoring air quality in communities near resource and manufacturing industries. We will integrate these multi-sensor configurations in improved and redesigned prototypes. We will establish an air quality baselines as a benchmark for comparison and deploy the prototypes for field testing and performance analysis, in collaboration with community ambassadors living within the communities impacted by industrial air pollution. With AirSENCETM- FIM, AUG will launch an innovative and competitive product to address the needs of the emerging market of fence-line and near-industry air quality monitoring. With the information on air quality provided by AirSENCETM- FIM, the industry will be able to better monitor their compliance with environmental regulations and assess their efforts in fighting climate change. Communities living near industrial areas and non-profit organizations will benefit as well and use it to educate the public about the importance of air quality, encouraging actions to reduce air pollution.
