Clean water is a crucial necessity, and yet approximately one out of nine people lack access to safe water globally. This program is directed toward the upscaling development of cost-effective and energy-efficient water technology using capacitive desalination with novel nanofluids. Exploiting the nanotechnology and fluidic optimization, the team will design and fabricate proof-of-concept devices enabling continuous desalination using suspensions of nanomaterials under a low voltage. The developed optimization platform, lab manufacturing, and upscaling application provide both economic and social benefits to Canada by providing an affordable desalination technology.
