There is a growing need for high voltage isolated DC/DC converters with a low form factor, for application in the electric automotive, renewable energy, and consumer electronic sectors. In this project, we propose to use the know-how of Université de Sherbrooke micro/nano fabrication of semiconductor devices with the unique optocouplers technology commercialised by Broadcom, to microfabricate devices with multiplied the output voltage by more than 50. The objective of this project is to demonstrate the potential of optocouplers for up conversion with output voltage of >100V using DC input voltage of ~2V. This project will provide the opportunity for 4 HQPs training and will offer a unique Canadian technology that can be a game changer in the growing market of electrical mobility, actuators, optics, displays, and more generally, for any electrical sectors that use high voltage DC bus.
