LyonLeaf Cannabis Inc. is a federally licensed producer of premium cannabis and aims to close the gap inpatients' needs for standardized medical cannabis. It is committed to contributing to the body of research oncultivation of cannabis in industrial settings, as well as research on effects of cannabis product derivatives on health and well-being of medical patients. Understanding of resistance of cannabis strains to commonpathogens will help in identifying those strains that are not prone to diseases, and therefore may be more easily commercialized. The Technology Access Centre in Bio-Innovation at College La Cité would provide LyonLeafwith the knowledge, expertise and capabilities to assess which pathogens are present in their crop and develop techniques to select pathogen resistant genotypes that will be able to thrive where the present susceptiblegenotypes do not. This collaborative research project between LyonLeaf and La Cité would involve geneticmarker identification of common pathogens, genetic analyses using molecular biology equipment, andvalidation of methodology by application and observation of pathogen to cannabis plantlets. At the end of this project, LyonLeaf should be able to autonomously develop new varieties resistant to the pathogens encounteredin their facility, toward a more sustainable production which will help strengthen their position in the national market.
