Development of an Innovative Point-of-Care Screening Tool for Alzheimer's Disease

Recherches Neuro-Hippocampe Inc. is a private clinical research institution comprised of physicians and researchers studying Alzheimer's disease for the past 20 years. They are currently conducting Phase 2b and Phase 3 clinical trials at their Ottawa and Gatineau sites. It has been shown that early detection of Alzheimer's disease allows for improved efficacy of therapeutic interventions and quality of life. Therefore, as part of their preclinical program, and in collaboration with two research centers at La Cité, RNH aims to develop a point-of-care diagnostic tool to non-invasively detect risk genes associated with Alzheimer's disease in the younger at-risk population. The Centre for Expertise in Smart Prototyping, and the Technology Access Centre of Bio-Innovation, at La Cité have the expertise in personnel and specialized equipment to help RNH in their endeavor.
