Qubit Systems Inc. of Kingston Ontario is developing a wearable system for measuring human metabolic rate by**monitoring O2 concentration in exhaled breath for a fraction of the cost of its competition.**By working with the research staff and students at St. Lawrence College, this research team hopes to evaluate**the feasibility of alternative designs to improve the functionality, comfort, and aesthetics of an ambulatory mixed**expired air Human Respirometry System which measures, collects, and displays data related to O2 in exhaled**breath, breathing frequency, breathing patterns and heart rate, and which allows the user to monitor changes in**these variables under a variety of conditions.**Qubit Systems Inc. is a biology instrumentation development firm which specializes in the development of plant,**animal, insect, aquatic and human analyzers and systems for a broad range of research and teaching**applications.**The Applied Research Department is an integral part of St. Lawrence College and is proud to be named one of**Canadas Top 50 Research Colleges. College research consistently attracts over $1M in research project funding**for the Eastern Ontario region, and these projects bring exponential value to the surrounding community in the**form of new products, services and employment opportunities.
