The characteristics of career and technical education in American high school : on a viewpoint on the conversion to the concept of vocational education

本研究旨在厘清美国职业技术教育的特点。本研究着眼于职业教育理念的一个转折点。本研究的主要研究结果如下：(1)美国两种职业教育理念的对立，即“就业准备职业教育”和“文科职业教育走向和谐”。因此，职业教育的优势得到了延伸。而职业技术教育的重新设计成为高中教育改革的主要项目。(2)职业技术教育的重新设计方案是由一些组织的伙伴关系推动的，如非营利组织和基金会。该网络的中心是国家职业和技术教育研究中心，该中心是路易斯维尔大学和明尼苏达大学的大学联盟。

The purpose of this study is to clarify the characteristics of career and technical education in United States. This study focused on a turning point to the concept of vocational education. There are two main results of this study, as follows; (1)Antagonize between two concept of vocational education in US,"vocational education for job preparation" and"vocational education for liberal arts, turned into the harmony. So the strong point of vocational education was extended. And the redesign of career-tech education became the main project of the high school education reform.(2)The redesigning project of career-tech education is promoted by the partnerships of some organization, like non-profit organizations and foundations. The center of the network is the national research center for career and technical education, a university consortium between University of Louisville and University of Minnesota.
