This work involves the synthesis of novel highly functionalized chiral and achiral fragments from carbohydrate precursors.This work also involves investigation into the design of new ligands as catalyst components in cross-coupling and other reactions.This work also involves investigation into synthetic methodology that will affect various coupling methods using chiral auxiliaries and catalysts.Applications of the methods developed include the synthesis of potential anticancer and antibacterial agents and high value fine chemical intermediates.The work will also involve the isolation and structural determination of Natural products.
