Arbus Homes Inc. is seeking technical assistance from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) toimprove the design of its truck bed cover to meet the load bearing needs and activities of building contractorsand recreational users. The company has used many types of truck covers currently available on the market tocarry items for its construction business, but none of these is able to meet all of the performance criteria set outby Arbus Homes. As a result, Arbus Homes designed and developed its own load bearing truck cover andsuccessfully tested it for basic loading functions. Design refinement and further engineering assessment on loadbearing capacity and materials are needed before the cover can be commercially manufactured and introducedto market. The proposed project will review the prototype truck cover, and provide design modification andoptimization recommendations for the product.
