A Handbook of the Coptic Authors through the Tenth Century

Although many universities worldwide have a department of Coptic Studies or give lectures in this field there is no lexicon or handbook of the Coptic authors and their literary work. The project (A Handbook of Coptic Authors through the Tenth Century) aims to fill this lacuna and to produce a handbook in which Coptic authors lived in this period are studied and their literary works are discussed. Coptic literary works of those authors whose original language are still uncertain will also be included. Every entry in this handbook consists of two parts: Part one reports on the life and time of the author and gives sources and references about his person.Part two discusses the literary works of the individual authors and lists manuscripts, editions, modern translations and references of the discussed work.The handbook will be arranged alphabetic and include numerous indices which facility the search according to various criteria.
