本研究の目的は、近世南アジア史の現地語資料から得られる歴史情報の多角的な意味づけに資するという観点から、ポルトガル関係資料を体系的に利用するための基礎を構築することである。本研究の対象は、ポルトガル王国インド領にかかるポルトガル語の記録文書・編纂資料群、およびポルトガル国王の布教保護権のもと南アジアで行われたカトリック宣教にかかるポルトガル語・スペイン語・ラテン語・イタリア語の記録文書・編纂資料群の二つである。いずれについても公刊・未公刊の資料群から、16世紀以降18世紀初頭までにわたる近世南アジアの現地語資料との対照に資するものを体系的・網羅的に整理する。ポルトガル関係資料の全体像を把握することで、その史料論を確立し、近世南アジア史の現地語資料に対する有意の参考系たるべき資料群としての基礎を構築する。2022年度においては前年度に購入した、図書として刊行されている南アジア史・ポルトガル関係の一次資料と二次資料を基礎として、さらに関係史料の収集を進めた（設備備品費）。また電子データ化済の資料の一部については、昨年度の成果としてテキストデータ化等の整理を済ませているので、これを基礎として精密な閲読を進めた。一方、本年度は、昨年度の実地調査を延期した在リスボン（ポルトガル）のトッレ・ド・トンボ国立文書館、アジュダ博物館、海外史文書館の所蔵資料の実地調査に赴く予定だったが、再び感染症の状況により来年度以降に延期し、上記の図書資料や資料の電子化、データ整理等の作業に注力して、研究を進展させた。
