本研究の目的は，交代制勤務を継続する看護師の健康管理方法の全容を解明し，この結果に基づき看護師個々の健康管理を支援するための教育ツールを開発することである。この目的の達成に向け，次の3段階からなる研究を行っている。1)5年以上交代制勤務を継続する看護師がどのような方法により日常的に心身の健康を管理しているのかを質的帰納的に明らかにする。2)先述1)の健康管理方法にはどのような特徴があるのかを考察する。3)交代制勤務に従事する看護師の健康管理支援に向け，看護継続教育に活用可能なツールを開発する。2021年度までに，交代制勤務を継続する看護師による健康管理方法の全容解明に向けた十分なデータを収集するために，質問紙調査を実施した。具体的には，所属機関倫理委員会の承認を得たのち，質問紙の内容的妥当性確認のためのパイロットスタディを経て，全国30病院に勤務する看護師830名に質問紙を配布し，544部を回収できた（回収率65.5％）。2022年度は，自由回答式質問に回答のあった有効回答について，質的帰納的方法による分析を行った。この分析により，不規則な勤務形態や業務量過剰などにより心身の健康を保ちにくい中，実際に交代制勤務を継続する看護師は，健康を保つために日常的にどのようなことを心掛けたり工夫したりしているのかが明らかになる。また，交代制勤務を継続する看護師が行う健康管理にはどのような特徴があるのか，一般の人々が行うそれとは性質が異なるのかどうか，考察を進める。実際に交代制勤務を継続している看護師の日常的な健康管理行動は，すなわち看護師であれば誰でも実践できる可能性がある。この成果に基づき，看護師個々の健康管理を支援する教育ツールを開発することは，看護師の職業継続を通し，看護の質向上に寄与する。
