本研究は、東アジアに広く共有されてきた民衆教化の思想・体制である「郷約」に注目し、近世～近代日本におけるその受容と変容を分析するものである。2022年度は、琉球王国における郷約の受容と展開について調査し、研究を進めた。また、2022年度は本研究の最終年度であるため、これまでの研究をまとめ、学術誌の投稿などを通して成果を公開した。具体的には、①大洲藩（愛媛）における「郷約」の受容について。これまでの調査に基づき、大洲市、伊予市教育委員会所蔵の関係史料の分析を中心に、大洲藩における「郷約」の展開過程と特徴を明らかにした。②広島藩（広島）における「郷約」の受容について。18世紀末から明治初頭期、広島藩における「郷約」関係書『六諭衍義大意』の解釈、刊行、頒布などについて、広島県所蔵資料を中心に分析した。当該地域「郷約」関係書籍の出版における頼春水ら広島藩儒の働きについて検討した。③琉球における「郷約」の受容について、「郷約」関係書である『六諭衍義』『聖諭広訓』を通して研究した。沖縄及び本州に現存する両書籍の所蔵状況を調査、整理し、写本の翻刻、テキストの分析に基づき、18世紀以降、琉球王国と日本・清の思想的交渉の実態を明らかにした。琉球版『六諭衍義』関係書に関する調査の成果を論文にまとめ、公表した。④植民地朝鮮における「郷約」の活用について。1931年～1934年に咸鏡北道知事富永文一の「郷約」推進政策について、朝鮮総督府の慣習調査報告書、『自力更新彙報』等の出版物を中心に分析し、植民地政策における日本官僚の「郷約」認識について検討した。
