研究目的は、看護系大学、短期大学、看護専門学校等の教員（看護学教員）個々が倫理的行動の現状を自己診断するとともに、診断結果に基づき必要な研修を選択受講し、その改善、向上を図ることを支援する「看護学教員のための倫理的行動改善向上FDプログラム」を開発、普及することである。研究目的の達成に向けては、次の7段階の手続きを経る。それは、（1）今日の看護学教員の倫理的行動の質的全容解明、（2）その結果に基づく先行研究が開発した尺度の洗練と洗練した尺度の信頼性・妥当性の検証、（3）尺度を用いた全国調査による看護学教員の倫理的行動の量的現状解明、（4）この結果に基づく「看護学教員のための倫理的行動自己診断基準」の作成、（5）看護学教員個々が自己診断結果に基づき必要な研修を選択受講できるFDプログラムの作成、（6）複数看護学教育機関における試行を通したFDプログラムの有効性検証と洗練、（7）FDプログラム普及に向けたハンドブック作成である。（1）の目標達成に向け、令和2年度までに質的データの収集を完了し、令和3年度は、この質的データの分析を進めた。分析方法には、Berelson,Bの方法論を参考にした看護教育学における内容分析（舟島, 2018）を用いた。対象者一人あたりの記述量は、予想を大きく上回り、その分析には予想以上の時間を要したものの、令和4年度は、いったん質的分析を終了した。しかし、（2）の目標達成に向けた精度の高い結果産出をめざし、得られた結果を先行研究（村上・舟島他, 2006）の成果と照合したところ、今回の研究結果に先行研究には含まれない性質の新たなカテゴリが形成されたことを確認できた一方、尺度の洗練に先立ち、質的分析の結果を再度見直す必要があるという判断に至った。そのため、この質的分析の見直しを継続した。
