Identifying and addressing students' SpLDs and potential SpLDs in English as a foreign language in Japanese higher education

Based on the pilot study, the implementation of the individual assessments (as a vehicle to validate the self-report questionnaire of this study) was cancelled, mainly due to the time frame of this research. Instead, to validate the questionnaire, a few other tools were selected. One of them is the English proficiency test scores of the participants. Another tool is an instrument for reading difficulties in Japanese.I presented the results and discussion of the present study at an international conference held in Japan, and also attended a small study meeting at a conference in Bangkok, where we discussed the possibility of using the same approach used in this study, applied in other settings to ultimately help students with learning disabilities.
