项目摘要

本研究は戦後日本における国語科教育の展開過程について、「戦後日本の国語・国語科教育の最大の功労者」と評される石森延男の仕事に着目して明らかにするものである。以上の目的に迫るため設定した課題は、第一に、光村図書出版設立（1949年）における石森の関与と影響の解明、第二に、『学習指導要領国語科編昭和二十六年度（試案）』および『学習指導要領国語可変昭和三十三年度』の作成過程における石森の役割の分析、第三に、光村図書出版の草創期・発展期における同社の国語教科書の特質と石森の影響の検討の３点である。研究計画においては、当該年度を含む研究期間前半３年間を、上述した検討課題に取り組むうえでの基礎史料の収集およびそれに基づく資料集の作成・公表のための期間に設定した。研究計画の１年目にあたる当該年度は、主に国立国会図書館での所蔵調査と、古書店の販売書籍目録・インターネットサイトを用いた情報収集を行い、収集予定であった戦後初期の国語教育関連雑誌および光村図書出版編纂の教育雑誌『国語教育相談室』の閲覧・収集に着手した。こうした作業と併行して、戦後占領期以降の石森の著作・論文の収集に努めた。研究期間２年目と３年目は、当該年度の活動を継続してさらに史料の収集を進めるとともに、分析対象を地方教育会の刊行物などのマイナーなものまで広ていく。併せて２種類の学習指導要領の成立過程に関する史料と、学習指導要領をめぐる同時代の教育者らの言説の収集に着手し、４年目および５年目にそれらの史料を分析して課題遂行に努める。
