初年度に実施予定の課題「分析対象の拡大、現象の調査・整理」および「既存の形式枠組みの調査・検討」につきましては、下の通りの研究活動を行いました。文献調査および考察で、本研究で築く予定の新枠組みの基盤である概念「前定と想定」の既存の枠組みでの分析可能性についての基礎的な調査を行った結果、２年度目および３年度目に行うイントネーションパターンの意味とそれに相当する表現の記述および分析に用いうる形式論理の部分を特定できました。これにより、どのような現象を対象にすれば、新枠組みの有意義性を検証できるかを特定できるようになります。「前提と想定」の枠組み、およびイントネーションパターンの多言語における多様性についての情報交換および学術上の議論を行うため、ポーランド・ポズナンのアダム・ミツキェヴィチ大学で行われる、アジアの言語から導かれる言語学研究をテーマとする国際学会「Linguistics and Asian Languages」に、２３年３月に、「On the　grammaticality　of pragmatic meaning in prosody」（韻律における語用論的な意味の文法性について）というテーマを発表し、その後はベルリンのLeipzig Zentrum fuer allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft（ライプニッツ総合言語学研究所）にて、客員研究員のElin McCready教授の招待で、形式語用論の専門家とこれからの研究予定について議論し、非常に有意義の情報を得られました。なお、本研究ですでに対象にしている現象（イントネーションパターン）には、既存の枠組みではその意味を把握できないようなものがあることも、語用論的な意味の専門家との議論でわかり、研究課題の焦点が有意義であることが期待されます。
