1 研究の目的本研究は中学校音楽科におけるアジア伝統音楽の指導について、インドネシア・バリ島に伝わる大編成の打楽器合奏音楽「ガムラン・ゴング・クビャール(Gamelan gong kebyar)」の古典的伝承法に着眼した教材開発を試み、授業場面における学習者同士の相互作用を省察することを通して、本教材がもたらす学びを検証する教育実践研究である。2 研究の成果バリ・ガムランの古典的な伝承は、楽譜を使用せず口頭で行われ、学習者は師匠の行為を繰り返し模倣することで技を獲得する。上演場面で演奏者相互の臨機応変な対応が求められるバリ・ガムランにおいては、演奏技法を場に即した応用可能な身体知として学習させることが必要とされるからである。鳥取市立河原中学校3学年の授業における生徒同士の相互作用を省察した結果、次の3点が研究の成果として明らかとなった。第1に、口頭で師匠から学習者へ技を伝承することで、学習者が自分自身で技に対する分かり方をつくるというメタ学習能力を高めることである。(学習者の音楽経験をもとに技を理解するため、ガムラン音楽の音楽的特徴の翻訳という点で、文化理解の文脈とは異なることに留意が必要である。)第2に、技を身体でまるごと模倣することを通して、演奏の状況に即した応用可能で実践的な音楽能力が育まれることである。第3に、技が身体に深い記憶として刻まれることで、別の曲(もしくは別の楽器)の学習時にも身体の記憶が新たな技の習得に転用されることである。上記の成果によって、これまで楽譜による音楽伝承を中心に扱ってきた学校音楽教育において、口頭による音楽伝承の教育的意義を再考できた。
