项目摘要

効果的に研究を進めるために、まずは日本を知ることから始めようと、北海道の先住民族であるアイヌの芸術を参考にした実践研究を行った。はじめに現地調査を行い国立民族学博物館のアウトリーチ教材「みんぱっく」を模して、実際のモノにふれ、感じ、アイヌの人々の暮らしを知るといった内容の授業を道徳で行った。とくに、アイヌ民族の自然観については児童にとっては意義のある学習となり、心の教育の面でも効果的であることがわかった。図画工作科では、現地でもワークショップ等で行われているアイヌ文様の切り絵と色画用紙で編んだ、彼らの伝統的な織り物を模した作品を仕上げた。ついで、琉球民族の芸術性に注目した研究を進めた。小学校における沖縄の学習は、5年生で伝統家屋を学ぶ以外は戦争や米軍基地のことが主体であり、悲観的なイメージだけが残る傾向が強い。そこで、反戦平和への意識を高めるためにも事前学習において、親近感を増しておくことが大切であると考え、ものづくり教材の開発を視野に入れて現地調査を行い、現地の人々の遊びである草編みや児童もよく知っているシーサーのペーパークラフト、愛情が込められた八重山ミンサーを色画用紙で織ることなどを教材化するに至った。ここでも道徳において、沖縄のモノを実際に見たり手にしたりできるようにし、琉球民族の自然観も学んだ。最後にカナダ・北西海岸先住民のトーテムシンボルを描く学習を行い実践を終えた。実践後の児童の意識調査から得られた結果から、ものづくりを行うことにより、現地の人々への親近感や文化的な興味が数段に増すことと、彼らの生活感から道徳的な学ぶべき事項が数多くあることが明らかとなり、教材化の可能性を大いに見い出すことができた。
