Since 2003, the Egyptian-German joint mission "The Asyut Project" has been conducting archaeological fieldwork on Gebel Asyut al-gharbi in the necropoleis of the ancient town of Asyut in Middle Egypt. During the 2010 season of fieldwork, a statue was unearthed, whose style and type corresponds to a small group of other statues from Asyut. These statues are the product of (a) regional workshop(s). Dating, workshops, function, and the assessment of these statues within Egyptology of these statues are discussed.
