项目摘要

本研究は、中国・内モンゴル自治区に居住するモンゴル族遊牧民の定住化過程における文化変容の実態をフィールド・ワークを通して明らかにしようとするものである。本年度は主として同自治区西部のオルドス地域と首府呼和浩特市周辺で現地調査を実施し、その成果を公開した。1.定住化においこまれた最大の原因は放牧地の狭小化に求められよう。清朝の政策転換にともない、19世紀末から大量の漢人農民が内モンゴルに入植し、草原を占領して農耕地に改造した。それと同時にモンゴル族の方は家畜を失い、農民に変身していった。こうした歴史的な出来事を「19世紀末におけるモンゴルと漢族関係の一側面」、「19世紀モンゴル史における<回民反乱>」にまとめ、公開した。2.社会変動期において、モンゴル人はなにを考え、どのように行動してきたかを示す資料として、手写本(古文書)がある。手写本の内容は哲学、文学、天文学、医学など多分野に及んでいる。このような手写本を民間から収集し、著書Manuscripts from private collections in Ordus, Mongolia(2)-the Ghanjurjab collectionのかたちで発表した。今後は、現地調査で収集した資料と、世界各国の文書館に保存されているモンゴルの社会変容に関する档案資料とを併せて、モンゴル族の社会変容を歴史人類学の視点から一層綿密に解明していく予定である。
