项目摘要

本研究は、学校教員の職能開発(professional development)を促す上で「笑い」(laughter,smile)が持つ効果に着目することから始めた。具体的には、各地の教育センター等における教員研修等を通じて、教員が自らの教職キャリアと自身の教育観や学校観を振り返ること、さらにこれらを再構築する上で、「笑い」に代表される感情上の変化の経験が優れて有効なことを実証した。またこの結果を受けて、これまで教員研修での主眼とされていた理解や認識の変容といった認知的な面での効果に留まらず、感情面においても教員に影響を及ぼしうる研修テーマ、内容、運営上の条件が求められていることを論じ、その具体を仮説的に提示した。そして、「笑い」に限られない主体が自らの感情を駆使し、行為の対象の感情に影響を与えようとする労働、すなわち感情労働(emotional labor)として教育の営みを捉えることが、実際の教育活動をよく説明できることを明らかにし、そのための自己および組織的なマネジメントの必要性が高まっていることを述べた。今後、「笑い」が既存の教育的価値と齟齬を来しうること、それゆえに「笑い」を重視し操作できる教員が求められているという基本的理解のもとに、感情労働としての教員の教育行為が、かれらの具体的技術や戦略・方略としていかに現れているか、また、それは教職の専門職性をいかに高めうるものか、あるいは職能開発上の阻害要因となりうるかについて明らかにすることが課題となっている。
