確率変数Xとs(>0)は互いに独立とする.sが何等かの意味で1に近いとき,Xの尺度混合分布Y=sXの分布関数FはXの分布Gの回りで展開することが出来る.この研究では,比較的一般のGに対して事実上2種類の展開を与え,かつその展開を有限のところで打ち切ったときの誤差評価を行った.とくにGが正規分布及びガンマ分布のときに具体的な誤差評価の式を与えた.これまでの結果を改良することを目指したのであるが,第2種の展開では正規分布及びshape parameterが1以下のガンマ分布(指数分布を含む)についてはここで得られた誤差評価が最良である(改良出来ない)ことを解析的に証明した.同じことは第1種の展開についても成り立つものと予想されたが,これは数値計算によって確かめられた.もう一つの課題はある種の離散分布の諸性質の研究であった.その中でk回の「成功」が連続して起るまでの「成功」及び「失敗」の回数の同時分布,n個のユニットからなるシステムにおいて連続したk個のユニットが壊れるまでの時間の分布を求め,これらを正確に計算する方法を確立した.
