後鳥羽上皇の笠懸等の武芸について、それが行われた空間的な問題を、上賀茂社や水無瀬離宮の馬場を中心に、政治的な問題も含めて、文献ならびに現地調査を行い考察した。また、上賀茂社で後鳥羽上皇が参籠時に宿所とした長廊という建築に関してもさらに調査を進めた。鎌倉における源氏将軍の大倉御所が複数のブロックから構成されていたのではないかということや、大倉御所を中心とする鎌倉の都市構造、上賀茂社の長廊と同様に長舎状建物であったと考える侍所の建築構造に関しても、文献調査ならびに現地調査、考古学的な面からの考察をさらに行い、水無瀬離宮と鎌倉の大倉御所の空間構造や水無瀬と鎌倉の都市構造に関する比較的考察を進めた。後鳥羽上皇の崩御後、御影堂領となる地域は、承久の兵乱以前から、後鳥羽上皇の政治的・経済的な基盤としての地域であった可能性が考えられる。滋賀県内、和歌山県内の御影堂領であった地域で現地調査を行った。後鳥羽上皇皇子の雅成親王の但馬での承久の兵乱以後の配流先の問題などについてさらに現地調査を進めた。後鳥羽上皇の水無瀬殿（水無瀬離宮）が存在した大阪府島本町で、既に公開されている発掘調査報告書をもとに、京都市考古資料館の元館長である長宗繁一氏のご協力を得て、調査平面図を集成してKML形式のデータを作成するとともに、それにともなう集成図を作成した。また、島本町内の桜井地域には、後鳥羽院政期やその前後の時期に園城寺系の法親王などが管掌した桜井寺（桜井宮とも呼ばれる）という寺院が存在したと考えるので、この地域に現存する石造物について、石造物の研究者である山川均氏ならびに文化財の調査コンサルタント会社である（有）ワークに依頼して3D測量などの調査を行なった。以上のような研究活動とともに、後鳥羽院政期の平安京と近郊の都市構造に関する文献調査も継続して行った。
