In this research, we have constructed a near-infrared mosaic camera with two 2048 x 2048 HgCdTe arrays for wide field imaging at 0.8 to 2.5 μm wavelengths. TUFPAC (Tohoku University Focal Plane Array Controller) is an array control system specifically designed for flexible control and efficient data acquisition for 2048 x 2048 HgCdTe (HAWAII-2) array. A personal computer operated by Linux OS controls mosaic HAWAII-2s with DSP boards installed on the PCI bus. Using TUFPAC, we have extensively examined the performance (stability, read-out noise, linearity, and dark noise) of the arrays installed in a test dewar specifically designed for the test. The mosaic camera will be installed to multi-object near-infrared camera and spectrograph (MOIRCS), which is supposed to be used with SUBARU telescope at National Astronomical Observatory for the study of galaxy evolution and structural formation of clusters at high redshift.
